Software and Data Licensing

If advanced algorithms are the recipes that QS develops, software is the actual cake that we bake. Our team of truly remarkable, experienced developers have created applications and tools enjoyed by millions of consumers as well as single scientists working in the most obscure (but very important!) laboratories. The QS software development team works directly with customers and in-house engineering staff to gather requirements, develop timelines, implement code, build and execute testing regimes, develop documentation, and assist in the deployment of software incorporating advanced algorithmic technologies. Custom Algorithm Modules

Quantum Signal develops technologies that form the basis of high-value added products for end-users. Our technologies are implemented as software modules that can easily be integrated into your application or system. These software offerings, as well as new ones, are constantly under development at QS.

Fairly regularly, QS has been asked to license much of the technology as shrink-wrapped software development kits (SDKs). The nature of advanced signal and image processing technology, however, is that most of the "good stuff" is application dependent: the face tracking algorithm that works outstandingly for broadcast television feeds may not be the one you want to use for your point-of-sale ID application! We are absolutely committed to customer satisfaction, and thus do not market shrink-wrapped modules without working with the customer.

If your organization has an existing or planned application that could benefit from QS technology, we will adapt or hybridize modules to meet the specific requirements. QS will provide you with a custom SDK to meet your particular needs, thus ensuring optimal performance and satisfaction. Licensing rates vary by product, but generally it is a base license fee plus royalty per external sale. Some of the technologies available include:

  • Face Processing Technology

    This set of algorithms allows detection, tracking, extraction, and further processing of human faces from still images or video. Includes highly robust, real-time tracking and extraction of an unlimited number of faces in video, separation from background ("trimming"), and localization of key face features.   • Video Content Analysis Technology

    Cutting-edge image processing software that enables the automated selection and tracking of objects within video. Both rigid and non-rigid objects can be tracked and analyzed, including vehicles, humans, and just about anything.   • Video Surveillance Technology

    A complete set of tools for digital video surveillance monitoring applications. Allows easy definition of analysis areas, quick reference timelines, offline and online analysis, and more. Compatible with modern surveillance cameras and equipment. Includes video handling, "paint on" surveillance area definition tool, automated event and object detection and logging, and host of other processing features.   • Visual Odometry and Obstacle Detection

    Advanced, real-time software for estimating vehicle position based on analysis of onboard monocular camera video streams. Detection of obstacles in path and surrounding vehicle, as well as path-planning algorithms for re-routing.   • Interactive Visualization Engine

    Software engine that brings an exciting "video-game style" interactive visual interface using commercial video game technology and hardware to engineering simulation. Includes three dimensional, real-time rendered graphics with adaptable textures, surround-sound audio, TCP/IP network and "multiplayer," support for a wide variety of controls, and more. Originally developed for the US Army by QS, this engine is being applied to real-time vehicle dynamics, robotics, and other areas where interactive simulation and engineering analysis intersect.
